I worked on the foundation of AMD Software first design system and the redesign of its next-generation software experience.
Over the summer and fall, I joined AMD’s User Experience team as a UI Design Intern. Our team focused on improving GPU and CPU performance tools, and with AMD expanding into markets beyond gaming, we began a large-scale software redesign. I supported this effort by designing prototypes and helping build the design system that guided the new direction. While NDAs prevent me from sharing the specifics, I can reflect on the process and practices I contributed during this project.

Embracing Change
One of the main challenges I faced during my internship was the continuous changes in project requirements. As the team explored new directions and adapted to evolving goals, design priorities often shifted. At first, it felt difficult to keep up, since each change required rethinking prototypes and adjusting design decisions I had already made. Over time, however, I learned to embrace these changes as part of the iterative process.
Learning Through Ambiguity
At times, I felt completely clueless because the ideas we were working on were entirely new, with no direct reference from existing software. Unlike more established design problems where I could look to industry standards or competitor products for guidance, this project required starting from scratch. While it was intimidating, it also taught me how to navigate ambiguity, how to break down abstract concepts, experiment through prototyping, and rely on collaboration with my team to move forward.
